Lous Records on the 101 in Encinitas, California
Lou’s wasn’t terribly close to where I grew up, but it was still often worth the trip. I remember first hearing about the place because Yellowcard was going to do an in-store performance there and my teenaged self was thrown into a tizzy at the sheer idea of it.
I just remember snaking my way through aisles of shelves stacked higher than I could really reach at the time with albums of bands that I’d never even heard of. Then, later because I was just a wee teen Lou’s became the only place I could go to purchase certain CDs just because they didn’t carry them at the Target in my hometown and I was too young for a credit card so internet purchases were out. So, I’d have to borrow my mom’s doo doo brown Ford Aerostar minivan and drive all the way out to Lou’s. Then I’d have to wait until I got all the way home to listen to the CDs I’d gotten because the Aerostar only had a tape deck.
This is what a life without iTunes was like, kids.
