1. Liam Finn - Cold Feet (by LiamFinnVEVO)

Another song that’s been getting constant play. It’s got a bouncy soul feel and a short spacey bridge and it’s super cute and catchy.

The video is a bit cute/weird/sad (if you’re the type to sympathize with puppet baby polar bears).

It’s about finally plucking up the courage to tell someone how you feel. I think. Some of the lyrics are a bit random and there’s some mention of sellotape (which is by the way, one of my favorite words/Flight of the Conchords song), I didn’t really pay much attention. Regardless it’s catchy and cute.

  2. Paris - Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

How have I gone so long without having heard of this band? Grace Potter looks like Heidi Klum and rocks out like Roger Daltrey. Very 60s/70s rock feel.

And they’re from Vermont of all places. Who knew?

  3. Not quite sold on their version of the song, but the video sure is fun (these are my feelings toward Ok Go about 45% of the time). Though, with the Muppets and Ok Go it’s hard to go wrong.

The ending by the way is ridiculous.

  4. I don’t know what this is about even at all. What I do know though is that those old dudes can dance.

Old guys dancing in half shirts is something that is clearly lacking in American music videos.

Cry Baby - Cee Lo Green

Didn’t know there was a video for this. This is my favorite song off of Cee Lo’s album. Well, my favorite song that isn’t Fuck You, I suppose. Stars Jaleel White aka Urkel (though here he looks more like his alter ego Stefan Urkell).

Fun fact: That looks like the same stoop that they use on How I Met Your Mother for Ted’s apartment (the stairway leading down looks like the same one that leads to MacLaren’s Pub).

  6. Whitney Houston - How Will I Know (by whitneyhoustonVEVO)

My dash could always use more Whitney.

    Love the giant bow.

Feel free to ignore the fact that this song is essentially the same song as “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.

  7. Whitney Houston - So Emotional (by whitneyhoustonVEVO)

Wait. This is totally like those other two Whitney songs I posted. Goodness. It’s like she was the Nickelback of the late 80s/early 90s.

  8. I can’t help but bust out my best dance moves (of which there are few) when I hear this song. I love it so much that it’s one of my ringtones. Plus the lyrics are ridiculous:

Hey yo fat girl, c’mere - are ya ticklish?
    Yeah, I called ya fat.
    Look at me, I’m skinny
It never stopped me from gettin’ busy.
    I’m a freak
I like the girls with the boom.
I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom.
    I’m crazy.
    Allow me to amaze thee.
They say I’m ugly but it just don’t faze me.
I’m still gettin’ in the girls’ pants
And I even got my own dance.

Gosh. Chimps make it so hard to love them.

  10. Stay Young Go Dancing - Death Cab For Cutie

I posted about this in audio form a while back I think, but they just debuted the new video for this song. It’s insanely sweet. Ben Gibbard wrote this song for his wife, Zooey Deschanel so how it it be anything but? Plus the video features an adorable elderly couple dancing. That’s practically cheating.

In terms of the song itself, this is one of those songs that I fell in love with as soon as I heard the opening notes. I just love when people write songs for other people and it doesn’t end up mega cheesy or awful (I’m looking at you “Hey There Delilah”).

‘Cause when she sings, I hear a symphony,
and I’m swallowed with sound as it echoes through me
I’m renewed. Oh how I feel like,
though Autumn’s advancing, we’ll stay young, go dancing.
